Cane & Table

Cane & Table New Orleans

Looking for candlelit respite within the bustling French Quarter? Cane & Table with its rum-filled backbar, mood-specific cocktails, and seasonal dishes inspired by Caribbean flavors might just be the perfect spot.

Located on lower Decatur street near the edge of the French Quarter, Cane & Table delivers actually good cocktails within a beautiful setting. There’s an outdoor courtyard for warm summer nights or an alluring interior if you’re looking to slip inside for something a bit more rum-y. The food leans Caribbean, while the cocktails (and large rum list) offer something for everyone. Yes, you can order yourself a frozen Pina Colada or even a Hurricane, but don’t expect the same hogswallop as you would on nearby Bourbon Street.

General Manager Emily Shoemaker tells us…

Please describe Cane & Table as if you’re explaining the experience of walking through the doors and ordering your first drink.

Cane & Table is a moody, candlelit respite off of busy lower Decatur street. Though it’s typically far from quiet here, it feels like a break from the bustle of the lower French Quarter. There is a cocktail on the list for every mood, and a back bar full of bottles you can rarely find anywhere else.

How would you describe Cane & Table in a three-word text to a friend that you’re trying to convince to join you?

So. Much. Rum.

Other than Cane & Table, what else is happening in the neighborhood that you’re in?

Lower Decatur Street is full of character (and characters) and we are smack dab in the middle of it. We’re two doors down from Molly’s at the Market where you can grab their famous frozen irish coffee (get an extra shot in it!) and right across the street from a venue that has an excellent brass band playing every Friday night. It’s a pretty solid mix of local watering holes and music venues that lead to a pretty great scene every evening.

Aside from Happy Hour, when is the best time to get to the bar?

When the lights get turned down and the music gets turned up.

Describe the average drinkers that you serve?

I’d say there’s no such thing as an average drinker in the French Quarter. We serve people from every walk of life and every corner of the world, along with many locals who know where to get the good stuff.

Please tell us more about your drinks menu.

Our cocktail menu is created with great care by our highly talented bartenders. They are experts at finding new ways to create balanced and creative cocktails that you really can’t find anywhere else. It ranges from punchy and tropical to smoky and spicy. There’s truly something for everyone. We also offer a selection of wine and beer that we choose carefully to complement our food and play well with the rest of our drink offerings.

What’s your signature drink–or your favorite drink currently on the menu–and why should I order it?

The Hurricane & Table! We make every ingredient fresh in house and it’s a far cry from the ones you’ll find elsewhere in the French Quarter (I’m looking at you, Bourbon Street).

How much do drinks cost?

Our drinks range from around $14 to $30.

Is there anything to eat? If so – what’s your favorite dish on the menu?

Yes! Our menu is delicious and our kitchen team is amazing. My favorite dish is the Fish Rundown- a coconut curry with fried local fish and jasmine rice.

What are the distinguishing features of Cane & Table?

The distinguishing features of Cane & Table are the people that work here. We have a great time every night and we want you to have one too. We also have a fantastic patio and, once again, that back bar full of rum.

What’s that music we hear playing on the Cane & Table stereo?

Dancehall, forever.
