Compass Box Introduces The Travelling Circus

Compass Box Travelling Circus

Compass Box is heading to travel retail at JFK and LAX with the launch of Travelling Circus

Compass Box has announced the release of their first global travel retail limited edition expression – The Travelling Circus Blended Scotch Whisky. The new bottling looks to offer the travelers the richness and drama of a night at the circus.

Inspired by The Circus, a Compass Box limited edition originally released in 2016, The Travelling Circus offers an enhanced peat presence courtesy of malt whisky from the Talisker Distillery and a parcel of peated blended Scotch whisky. The label design nods to the original The Circus, refreshing it through the filter of Futurism, which valorised movement and machines.

The majority of whiskies in the Travelling Circus have been aged in sherry casks, making the whisky exude a deep fruitiness, with aromatic dry smoke and a silky flourish on the palate. Smokiness from malt whiskies from the Talisker and Caol Ila distilleries are layered with Speyside sherry character, finished with grain whisky from the now-closed Port Dundas Distillery.

“We are incredibly pleased with the arrival of The Travelling Circus,” says Whiskymaking Director James Saxon. “The balance of sherry cask maturation and complex smokiness is something of a hallmark for Compass Box, and those who are fans of our whiskies will enjoy dissecting this latest composition. For those new to Compass Box, this is a globe-trotting introduction to the sorts of places we can explore when creatively combining high-quality Scotch whiskies.”

Compass Box CEO, Maurice Doyle adds, “We’re really excited about our growing partnership with DFS and the USA has always been a priority market for us, so this feels like the perfect time to release an utterly delicious travel-retail exclusive to capture the hearts and taste buds of those traveling through LAX and JFK.”

Travelers can find the bottles at Compass Box Travelling Circus displays at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York City and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) until the end of August. Bottled at 49% ABV, it is available for $188 per 700ml bottle.
