Cù Bòcan Looks To Sherry And Jamaican Rum Casks For Lightly-Peated Creation #6 Single Malt

Cù Bòcan Creation #6

Experimental Highland whisky maker Cù Bòcan has unveiled Creation #6, their latest limited-edition single malt whisky made at the Tomatin distillery

Inspired by the lightly-peated spirit historically produced at Tomatin distillery more than a century ago, Cù Bòcan uses unique cask maturations to create a collection of vibrant flavors. For Creation #6 they used lightly peated Scottish barley and a fusion of liquid matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for nine years and Jamaican Rum casks for ten years.

The resulting spirit boasts a smoky and lively character. Notes of toasted Jamaica ginger cake, bonfire toffee, and banana and walnut loaf join hints of rum-soaked pineapple, raisins and a hint of crunchy almond caramel. The deep, dark palate finds flavors of amaretto cherries and salted caramel-coated liquorice, along with spiced plum jam and lozenges. The finish is soft and and lingering.

Creation #6 comes in a bespoke bottle featuring ascending contours engraved into the glass that emulate the signature wisp of smoke in the whisky’s character. Horizontal lines, meanwhile, not to the staves of casks.

“Cù Bòcan is renowned for exploring innovative maturations, creating whiskies full of flavour guaranteed to bring intrigue and surprise,” says Scott Adamson, Blender and Global Brand Ambassador. “Continuing this tradition, Creation #6 is a bold experiment where Europe and the Caribbean meet to create a whisky that is rich, sweet, and lively. Infused with the signature subtle smoke and vibrant rum and raisin, it promises an unforgettable sensory journey.”

Bottled at 46% ABV, Cù Bòcan Creation #6 is priced at £60 per bottle and available online and in specialist shops worldwide. To find a bottle, head over to the official website.
