SelvaRey, the Panama-based Rum brand co-owned by Bruno Mars, has launched a new Owner’s Reserve offering.
SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve Rum is a single estate offering hand-selected from the cellars of SelvaRey’s Master Distiller, Don “Pancho” Francisco Fernandez. It is blend of Rums aged between 15 and 25 years.
Described as “Perfectly balanced, exuding refinement while being pure pleasure. The pinnacle of tropical luxury.” On the nose, the Rum opens with inviting aromas of caramelized brown sugar, pipe tobacco, Pedro Ximenez sherry, and orange peel, while finishing with endlessly silky notes of baked apple crumble and roasted Brazilian nut. The palate features flavors of pears flambe, baking spices, dried apricot, and baked apple.
Bruno Mars designed the logo, wordmark, bottle shape, colors, materials, iconography, and every inch of the SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve gift box himself. He lead a team of artists/graphic designers and calligraphers who came together to execute the final product.
SelvaRey Owner’s Reserve Rum is priced at $149.99 per 750ml bottle and can be puurchased via ReserveBar. Currently, the spirit is out of stock as it sold out within two hours of hitting the market. Customers can still sign up for the waitlist, however, and will have the opportunity to by a bottle when the second allocation arrives in a few weeks.
Back in November, Bruno unveiled SelvaRey Rum. For years, the Hawaii-born musician has been guiding the Panamanian Rum company, redesigning every aspect of the brand. After years of work, the brand revealed new packaging, branding, and a global campaign.
“I tried the rum years ago and loved it. It tasted like tropical luxury, like I was on vacation,” said Mars. “So we started working together, bouncing ideas about how we could show people how this drink makes you feel. Took some years and a lot of piña coladas but, dare I say, we did it.”
If you’re looking to expand your Panamanian Rum palate, you might want to checkout Ron Abuelo Centuria, which is widely considered to be one of the finest Rums to come from the Central American nation.
