Aberlour has introduced its Distillery Exclusive Collection. The new range from the Speyside distillery features two limited edition 13 Year Old single malt Scotch Whiskies, one aged in American Oak, the other matured in European Oak.
Aberlour 13 Year Old America Oak Distillery Exclusive Collection Limited Edition has been exclusively aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. It is described as “sweet, silky, and smooth.” Bottled at 51.3% ABV, it offers aromas of vanilla custard, butterscotch, and salted caramel paired with walnuts and sweet red apples. The plate delivers maple syrup, orange marmalade and cranberry & blueberry flapjacks. The finish is smooth, sweet, and enduring.
Aberlour 13 Year Old European Oak Distillery Exclusive Collection Oak Limited Edition has been aged exclusively in ex-Oloroso Sherry Casks. It is described as “rich, spicy, and smooth.” Also bottled at 51.3% ABV, the Scotch offers aromas of sultanas, dried apricots, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg that are tied together with dark chocolate, and treacle. On the palate, it delivers orange zest, freshly baked ginger cake and homemade blackberry jam with hints of poached pears, liquorice and a dusting of muscovado sugar. The finish is long and luxurious, with smooth warming spice.
The Aberlour American Oak and Aberlour European Oak Distillery Exclusive Collection Whiskies are priced at £75.00 ($101 USD). They are only available for purchase in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland.
