Elementally Aged and Infused With Wild Foraged Matsutake Mushrooms from the Canadian Wilderness
Bearface Canadian Whisky has announced the US debut of the Wilderness Series with the release of Matsutake 01. With great timing for people celebrating the holiday season, this drink sets a perfect mood; an elementally aged whisky infused with wild Matsutake mushrooms for a unique umami finish.
Canada’s changing seasons, natural elements and flavors have inspired Bearface to create The Wilderness Series, a limited-edition collection of whisky that looks to turn tradition on its head. The first collection offered in the range is an Elementally Aged trilogy blend of French Oak, Sherry Pipes and Casked Matsutake.

Elemental aging is a unique process where hand-selected oak casks are matured in repurposed shipping containers and exposed to the elements of the Canadian wilderness.
Bear Country’s extreme northern climate produces fluctuating temperatures that amplify how the whisky and wood interact, transforming the liquid inside the casks.
Cask-infused with foraged matsutake, which is scarce around the world but abundant in Vancouver, the result is limited-edition Bearface Wilderness Series 01 Matsutake; a complex and layered whisky with savory and cinnamon notes, followed by wild, earthy warmness and umami finish with subtle flavors from the fresh forest floor.
