The Black Cat

The site of the first documented LGBT civil rights demonstration in the nation, today, the Black Cat offers some of Silver Lake’s best bar grub to go along with a relatively reasonably priced cocktail program and a rollicking weekend crowd. The chicken liver toast is a newer must-order, while the burger and cat snacks have been longtime favorites of the local-leaning crowd.

What’s the crowd like?
As stated above, the crowd leans local and trends towards mid-to-late twentysomethings and those in their early thirties. The space gets a bit loud at night and often fills with groups that will or have hit several local establishments. Still, it’s one of the area’s best spots for a light bite and a cocktail any night of the week.

What am I drinking?
Whatever calls to you. With a broad-ish list of wines by the glass, seven beers on draft, and a cocktail list filled with twists on classics, the Black Cat offers whatever you are in the mood for.

Is there anything to eat?
Yes. The chicken liver toast is a must, the burger is perfect pre-drink fare, and the warm cookies are a perfect way to end a night.

When should I get here?
Early, late, or in the middle. Kind of like the drink menu, the bar is a place for everyone whenever they get there.

Why am I here?
To enjoy a classic, everyday night out in Silver Lake or just for a quick bite and a drink.
