Bladnoch Distillery has launched a 19 Year Old Single Malt aged in ex Pedro Ximenez casks. The new whisky is set to become an annual release, alongside the Lowland distillery’s 11 Year Old and 14 Year Old single malts.
The 19 Year Old is the first PX Sherry expression that Bladnoch has released. “The launch of our new 19 year old whisky, adds another dimension to Bladnoch’s portfolio of annual releases,” said Master Distiller Dr Nick Savage. “Extraordinary Pedro Ximenez casks matured at Bladnoch complement the existing range with a beautifully rich and sweet whisky. The 19 Year Old PX matured Bladnoch emphasises our commitment to quality and delivers a single malt for those special moments.”
Bottled at 46.7% ABV, the Scotch offers aromas of dark liquorice sticks and aged oak with a floral background. The palate delivers liquorice sticks with dried apricots, almonds and nutmeg. The finish is described as “long with a dry sweetness.”
The Bladnoch 19 Year Old is priced at £180 ($254 USD).

Last month, Bladnoch Distillery launched its 2021 Single Cask Collection. The new set of whiskies from the Lowland distillery are available in limited quantities through its website and Visitor Centre. The Collection is made of six single casks hand selected by Savage as the very best that were maturing at Bladnoch’s 204 year old estate this year.
In March, Bladnoch unveiled its Vinaya whisky. The new offering is the largest release from the Lowland Scotch distillery since it was revived in 2015. Vinaya is created using a pairing of cask types not seen before from Bladnoch: ex-bourbon and ex-sherry. It is non-chill filtered, naturally colored and uses water sourced from the River Bladnoch.
Bladnoch owner David Prior is the first Australian businessman to own a Scotch whisky distillery.
