Spanish winery Bodegas Peñascal has launched a new “ethical” rosé at its carbon-neutral winery that donates 10% of its profits to the conservation of coral reefs.

Peñascal’s Coral Ethical Rosé is made from trempranillo and is described as an “elegant and delicate” organic and vegan-friendly wine. It offers delicate aromas of white flowers, peach, apricot and grapefruit. It is recommended to be served as an aperitif with salads, sushi, and pasta dishes.

The wine comes packaged in an ultra-lightweight bottle that uses recycled and recyclable materials. The brand donates 10% of its profits to the restoration and conservation of coral reefs, which represent 25% of marine biodiversity.

“Coral Ethical Rosé is aimed at consumers for whom quality and sustainability are affordable at the same time,” said marketing director Daniel Moreno. “At every stage of the process we aim to make the best choices for the environment, from sourcing organically grown grapes, to packaging in sustainable, lightweight materials and donating 10% of the profits to coral restoration projects.”.

With each bottle of Coral purchased, wine lovers contribute to the restoration and conservation of coral reefs. Specifically, to plant nearly 1.4 million corals to recover 93,000 sq. meters of coral reef in the next 3 years; to plant nearly 10 million corals to recover more than 600,000 sq. meters of coral reef in the next 20 years; and to reach more than half a million people every month to generate engagement around marine conservation issues and give them access to information, educational workshops, volunteering and diving programs.

Coral Ethical Rosé works with the Coral Restoration Foundation, which manages the world’s largest coral reef restoration project.

Priced at £9.99, Coral Ethical Rosé is imported into the UK by North South Wines, and is on sale at Amazon.co.uk, Abel & Cole and Adnams.
