Camus has opened its iconic Château du Plessis to travelers looking to totally immerse themselves in a full Cognac experience. Located in the heart of the Borderies, the smallest and oldest cru in the Cognac appellation, Château du Plessis is the home of Camus.
“Welcome to Château du Plessis, in the heart of the Borderies, the smallest and oldest cru in the Cognac appellation, the cradle of my family and witness to our history,” writes President Cyril Camus. “I invite you to live an exceptional and unique experience: an immersion in this place which is so dear to me and which, I hope, will be for you just as special, pleasant and inspiring. You are at home here and I wish you to spend wonderful moments of conviviality. “
It is an exceptional experience indeed for those who want to truly delve into the world of Cognac. Camus’ Château du Plessis offers three suites: The Elegance Suite, Ile de Ré, and Borderies. Each suite is more than 40 m² and features a bedroom, a living room with a mini bar, and all the comforts one could imagine.
Visitors have three, three-day stay packages to choose from. The most modest option is the Discovery pack, which allows guests to “simply taste «the castle life» while enjoying the terrace, the park and the beauty of the valley of the Charente.” On Friday, guests will be greeted from 4pm at the Château du Plessis by its Maitre d’hotel, Sophie, who will present them the places and the operation of the Castle and will detail their stay. After moving into the rooms, a dinner will be prepared and made available at the office. Guests are welcome to freely enjoy their evening and finish it under the Dome, tasting a cognac selected from the bonnetière (at discretion). Saturday and Sunday both include breakfast, but how you spend the days and evenings are totally up to you.
Those looking for the full package will want to splurge on the Immersion. On top of what is offered in the Discovery option, the Immersion also includes “an immersion in the Camus Estates,” where on Saturday visitors will be guided by an Ambassador for a walk of the vineyard and a visit to the distillery as well as enjoy a free lunch. In the evening, these guests will rendez-vous under the Dome, in the heart of the Castle, with the Ambassador and the chateau’s Chef for an evening of Cognac pairing. On Sunday, following breakfast, Immersion guests will meet at the Visitor Center in Cognac for a unique experience: create their own XO cognac accompanied by the Ambassador, become an Official Assembly Master of Camus House, and leave with the bottle of their own assembly.
None of the Camus Château du Plessis excursions come cheap, beginning at €1,700 for the Discovery package and going all the way to €3,560 for the Immersion package. There’s also the €2,880 Cognac Pairing package for those looking for something in the middle.
