Clase Azul Honors Día De Los Muertos With Limited-Edition Single Estate Tequila, Sabores

Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Limited Edition Sabores

Clase Azul has unveiled a new limited-edition series of tequila called Nuestros Recuerdos, which translates to “our memories.” The first release in the series is Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Limited Edition Sabores.

Occurring on November 1 and 2, Día de los Muertos is one of Mexico’s most personal and culturally important holidays. It is a joyous celebration that’s full of color, pageantry, food, and drink.

Clase Azul first launched its Día de Muertos Limited Edition series five years ago and the annual release has become one of the most eagerly awaited offerings for tequila aficionados. Now the brand has launched the Nuestros Recuerdos series, and its first installment, Sabores – “flavors” – has only 5,000 decanters available for purchase worldwide.

The Sabores Limited Edition is Clase Azul’s first single estate agave tequila. All the blue weber agave used for this tequila was sourced from a mountaintop in Los Altos de Jalisco called the “Cerro de Viboreo.” Located among the remnants of an ancient civilization – particularly fitting, given Día de Muertos traces its roots back thousands of years to the Aztec, Toltec, and other Nahua people – the area boasts unique soil and weather conditions that result in agave with a distinctive flavor profile.

This tequila was created by blending an añejo tequila aged for more than 14 months in casks previously used for American whiskey with tequilas aged in first-use American oak casks having light and medium charring.

Its profile features the most iconic flavors found on offerings during Día de Muertos. On the nose, the tequila features aromas of candied orange peel, agave syrup, and almond. The palate is complex with notes of citrus, clove, roasted coffee, and orange blossom, with a prolonged orange peel aftertaste.

The golden artwork on the decanter depicts Catrinas (elegantly dressed skeletons) enjoying a feast of the most iconic Día de Muertos dishes. The front is adorned with a handcrafted, gold-plated metal ornament made by Mexican artisans.

Clase Azul recommends enjoying Sabores neat in a tulip-shaped glass and paired with goat cheese and orange marmalade tapas.

In May, Clase Azul introduced Puebla Limited Edition tequila. The offering celebrates the cultural exchange between Mexico and France that defined Mexico as a multicultural country. In April, the luxury spirits brand announced its expansion from tequilas and mezcal into the hospitality sector.
