Deftones have teamed up with Abre Ojos to release a limited edition White Pony Tequila to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their famed album of the same name. The American band has previously released a number of craft beers.
The Deftones Abre Ojos White Pony Tequila is bottled at 40% ABV. Just 2,880 bottles have been created and will be made available for purchase March 15th online and in California, Tennessee, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
“The limited-edition Añejo was handcrafted in the town of Tequila, Jalisco,” reads Abre Ojos description. “It is aged up to two years in American Oak used whiskey barrels creating caramel, vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate notes. The buttery taste ends with a smoky, mature flavor. It is meant to sip and enjoy.”
According to the brand, the Tequila has notes of caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, and chocolate, and “the buttery taste ends with a smoky, mature flavor.” It is priced at $75 per bottle.
Previously, the Deftones released Ohms Pale Ale and White Pony IPA craft beers.
Deftones are the latest in a long line of musicians releasing special spirits. In November, The Rolling Stones launched their second Gin, this time featuring their iconic “Hot Lips” logo. Previously, the British rockers teamed up with Golby Gin on a “Yellow Tongue” bottling, which has since sold out. In October, Kiss unveiled its own spirit, Kiss Black Diamond Rum. The new offering is the American rock band’s first collaboration with Swedish drinks company Brands for Fans.
Belgian DJ and record producer Felix De Laet, better known by his stage name Lost Frequencies, also launched a spirits last year, Ocus Organic Gin. Cameron Diaz unveiled a new wine last week, while Ryan Reynolds sold his Gin to Diageo earlier this year, though the actor remains part of the brand.
