Desert 5 Spot Delivers Joshua Tree Vibes In A Hollywood Rooftop Bar Setting

|

Desert 5 Spot is Hollywood’s latest rooftop bar. Set atop the Tommie Hollywood, the space offers Joshua Tree vibes with a Western touch to Los Angeles’ most constantly evolving neighborhood.

Cowboy-chic design and an indoor-outdoor layout provide a laid back option for those seeking outdoor drinks high above the bustling boulevards. Located just steps from other recently opened rooftop venue Bar Lis, Desert 5 Spot offers a somewhat mellower touch with its live rock and country music. Think of it as a polished up Harvard & Stone with lounge vibes and a bit more cliche.

There’s certainly some over-the-top on display, such as the pseudo-broken neon sign or the cactus-shaped cocktail glass that carries the Ring of Fire, but this is Hollywood afterall. There are also weekly line dancing classes on Wednesdays.

From open till about 10pm, when the house band goes on, there’s plenty of open seating. Drinks lean towards tequila and mezcal and are named after classic country tunes, think the previously mentioned Ring of Fire (Bruxo mezcal, Ancho Reyes verde, prickly pear, lemon, ginger honey), The Gambler (Makers Mark, honey, ginger, lemon), the Devil Went Down to Georgia (Builleit rye whiskey, apricot, peach, grapefruit bitters, Angostura bitters), and so on. Once the band starts playing, a small dance floor opens up in front of the stages and spills out onto the balcony.

It’s important to note that there’s no food on the menu, so it’s best to come with a full belly before filling up on agave spirits.

Desert 5 Spot is open Wednesday from 7pm to 12pm and Thursday through Saturday from 8pm to 2am. For more information, head over to the official website.
