Frapin is celebrating its 750th anniversary with the release of 21 extremely rare bottles known as Frapin 750. The number honors the iconic house’s 21 generations of vine growers.

To create Frapin 750, Cellar Master Patrice Piveteau hand selected visited the Paradise Cellar at Chateau Fontpinot and sourced barrels dating from as far back as the 1800s. The Cognac will be housed in a limited-edition Baccarat carafe complete with two crystal tasting glasses engraved in Belle Époque-era grape vines with the Frapin 750 emblem. It all comes housed in a wood box with a drawer that contains a book, a sealed envelope, and a spot for a key.

A rich amber in color, the Cognac is described as extremely delicate on the nose with aromas of prune, old port, and cocoa, along with notes of black tea, licorice, and wood. The palate delivers pear and quince along with more wood, nutmeg, and warm balsamic.

Frapin 750 is currently on sale for € 40,000 ($48545 USD).

Earlier this year, Piveteau unveiled the first Cognac he has created of his own design. “After working with Frapin for the past 29 years, I felt comfortable and brave enough to take the Frapin style to the next level by adding my strong influence on it,” said Patrice when we spoke to him in November. The house’s long standing Cellar Master was kind enough to takes us through the tradition, innovation and influence that led to the creation of Frapin Cellar Master Edition No° 1 Cognac.

Back in June, Cognac Frapin Millésime 1992 was named the best Cognac in the world at the Cognac Masters 2020. The French Brandy was awarded the title of Cognac Taste Master during the annual event, which took place at the Charlotte Street branch of Gaucho in London, England.
In that same month, began giving tours at its new interactive Frapin Museum, where the Cognac brand hopes to give its fans the opportunity to explore the history of the house.
