Fuego Fino Launches Eco-Friendly Zunte Mezcal

Zunte Mezcal 2

Fuego Fino has launched Zunte Mezcal. The women-led, eco-friendly alcohol wholesaler previously released Diva del Bravo Tequila and Tequila Peñasco Extra Anejo. This new agave spirit is the second Mezcal the brand has brought to market.

“Zunte” means “Spirit’s Strength” and Fino Fuego remains committed to preserving traditional Mezcal production practices. The brand wants to be recognized for respecting the communities that produce traditional Mezcal.

Fino Fuego produces the Mezcal in San Luis del Río, Oaxaca using agave Espadin. The agaves are cooked underground for 4 days and then crushed by a stone tahona pulled by either a horse or mule. Next, the agave fibers ferment with water for 12 to 15 days in wooden vats. Finally, the mash is distilled twice over a period of 36 hours in copper stills.

Jessica Contreras, CEO of Fuego Fino, explained in a statement, “Mezcal is an emerging segment within the Mexican-spirits market that has recently seen an uptick in demand. While there are many Tequila products lining the shelves, the Mezcal line of products is one of the most sought after by retailers looking to add depth to their offerings. I like the custom-bottle presentation that Zunte selected, and I am honored to start distributing it within the Arizona market.”

Fuego Fino is an eco-friendly wine and spirits house that currently develops a variety of Mexican spirits, including the previously mention Tequila and Mezcal, as well as Bacanora and Sotol. They company minimizes waste and owns the majority of their supply and distribution networks.

Currently, Fuego Fino’s current lineup includes their eponymous Flama de Fuego Fino Mezcal, Diva Tequila, Tequila Penasco Anejo, Tequila Penasco Plata, Tequila Penasco Extra Anejo, and S Bacanora is set to launch September 16th.
