Glen Moray Launches “Whisky Surgeries,” A Digital Whisky Tasting Series

Glen Moray and two glasses for Whisky Surgeries

Glen Moray has launched “Whisky Surgeries,” a new monthly online whisky tasting series. Created to share knowledge and bring imbibers together, the digital events will be hosted by  Glen Moray’s head of whisky creation, Dr. Kirstie McCallum, and Glen Moray’s Brand Ambassador Iain Allan.

The two will shine a light on the Speyside distillery’s exploratory whiskies and take a deeper look at their Rhum Agricole Cask Project and the new hidden Madeira Cask expression. Throughout the event, the experts will answer questions from adventurous whisky fans.

The first event is set to take place on July 7 at 8pm BST (12pm PST) and will explore unusual cask maturation. Those who tune in can join in a virtual tasting and tour Glen Moray’s Warehouse 1, where the brand stores their rare casks and do maturation experiments.

“I’m really looking forward to presenting our first Whisky Surgery session as there is nothing I enjoy more than sharing a dram with enthusiasts and chatting about one of my favourite subjects – whisky exploration,” said McCallum.

“Glen Moray has a unique history of cask experimentation and I have a good few anecdotes to share on the discoveries that have been made in our distillery. Bringing people who are interested in whisky together to share knowledge is another passion of mine so this new series provides a great platform to do this.”

There are only 50 spaces available for the free event and the first 20 people who sign up will receive a Glen Moray tasting kit, free of charge. The kit contains the brand’s new Madeira Cask Project and Rhum Agricole Cask Finish Project expressions. Everyone will receive tasting cards for both expressions to download on the night. There is no word yet on when the follow up events will take place.

Those interested in attending Whisky Surgeries will need to book a spot via eventbrite.
