Glengoyne Casks Unlocked Event Invites Fans To Help Choose Next Single Cask Whisky

Glengoyne cask unlocked tasting kits

Glengoyne is asking consumers to help choose its next single cask Whisky bottling via its upcoming Casks Unlocked event. The Highland distiller is currently selling a tasting kit containing miniature bottles of the four rare cask expressions fans can choose between and on August 28 those interested can join in a live stream tasting event.

The Casks Unlocked event will feature Whiskies hand selected from Glengoyne’s Warehouse 8, and include an ex-Bourbon barrel from 2004, a very rare port pipe from 2005, an exceptional refill hogshead from 2006 and with only two on-site, a unique Madeira cask from 2007.. Distillery manager Robbie Hughes, global brand ambassador Gordon Dundas and a panel of industry figures will discuss the different expressions.

All those who take part will be invited to vote on their favorite and the winning selection will be bottled and become the distillery’s next Cask of the Moment bottling.

Hughes said: “ At Glengoyne, we’re incredibly fortunate to have some of the most loyal fans in the whisky world. Having helped to pick the four casks on offer, I’m truly excited to see and hear the reaction to these rare and unique drams. Some of the liquid in the sample kits may have never been released for sale, so this truly is a one-of-a-kind experience that we’re excited to offer our community.”

Only 230 tasting kits will be made available for the Glengoyne Casks Unlocked event, so those interested best act fast. Tasting kits are available from the distillery’s online shop and are priced at £50 ($65 USD).

In other new release Whisky news, Kavalan announced that they will be launching a sequel to their award winning Solist Vinho Barrique this fall. The second STR Whisky from the brand hopes to follow in the footsteps of the original, which first made headlines when it won “World’s Best Single Malt” at the 2015 World Whiskies Awards. It has gone on to win a number of other awards, including “Taste Master” at the World Whisky Masters 2020 and “Best of the Best” at the recent Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition.
