Glengoyne has unveiled Batch 9 of its beloved Teapot Dram. The Teapot Dram tells the story of an old distillery tradition where workers would be given three fingers of whisky, three times a day.
While most distilleries would give workers new-make spirits, hot off the stills, Glengoyne gave its team tumblers filled with Scotch from first-fill sherry casks. The less-seasoned members of the distillery team would discreetly pour some of their untouched drams into a copper teapot which sat on the canteen windowsill, ready for their older colleagues to enjoy later.
Honoring this tradition, the Teapot Dram has remained a sherry matured limited release ever since its launch. Batch No. 9 is matured exclusively in first fill European and American oak sherry casks and bottled at 58.9% ABV.
Limited to just 3,000 bottles,
this highly sought after dram is available from today (22nd May) via the Glengoyne website and distillery shop.
On the nose, Batch No. 009 provides warming, decadent apple strudel aromas with notes of almond flakes, chocolate coated raisins, and hints of creme caramel. The palate is rich and velvety, featuring flavors of sticky toffee pudding with dates and spices from cinnamon and cloves, hints of dark berries and dried fruits from the sherry cask. To finish, the latest Teapot Dram delivers more rich sherry notes and tropical fruits.
To celebrate the launch of Teapot Dram No. 9 Glengoyne has also announced a The Teapot tour at the distillery grounds. Visitors can hear tales from Glengoyne’s past and taste the newly poured Teapot No.9. Participants will also have the chance to taste two other award-winning whiskies from the Glengoyne Collection.
“We’re so pleased to share the latest Teapot Dram, Batch No. 009,” said Katy Muggeridge, Brand Director at Ian Macleod Distillers. “We know the range continues to grow in popularity, and it is always such an exciting time at the distillery when our latest dram is unveiled. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Glengoyne Distillery on our new Teapot Tour to try this indulgent and decadent whisky.”
Available from the Glengoyne Distillery shop and via the brand’s official website, the Teapot Dram Batch 9 is priced at £140.
In October, Glengoyne celebrated the contrast and harmony created by the interplay of its sherry and bourbon casks with the launch of a new 15 Year Old Highland Single Malt.
