Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate Batch 3 Brings A Spicy Twist To The Single-Estate Whisky

Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate Batch 3

Glenmorangie has unveiled The Cadboll Estate Batch 3, almost two years since the second batch hit shelves. The third edition of the single-estate single malt whisky offers a nutty and spicy twist on what has become a favorite amongs fans of the Highland distillery.

The Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate Batch 3 is made from liquid created from two separate barley harvests. Both were planted and harvested from fields located on the Cadboll Estate, to Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation,’s specifications. The Scotch was aged in American oak Bourbon barrels, with a portion finished in Amontillado sherry casks. After 15 years, the two whiskies were married to create this release.

“Created at Glenmorangie from field to glass, our Cadboll Estate series captures the true essence of our Highland world for whisky lovers to experience, wherever they happen to be,” said Dr Lumsden. “Including a parcel of whisky finished in casks seasoned with Amontillado, my favourite Sherry, the third Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate release adds wondrous sherried hints to our barley’s unique flavour. Soft and rich, with notes of deeply sweet spice, toffee, almonds and clove, this whisky celebrates the spirit, flavour and terroir of our homeland in a deliciously different way.”

On the nose, the whisky offers notes of honey, hazelnuts, mandarin oranges, and toffee, followed by sweet ripening barle and baked peaches. The palate is gently spicy leading to a burst of sweet and spicy flavors, then heather honey, gingerbread, hazelnut praline, fudge, toffee, and a touch of clove. The finish finds almond marzipan and coconut, and finally a suggestion of baking fruit loaves. The Amontillado cask delivers a nuttiness that is present throughout.

Bottled at 46% ABV, Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate Batch 3 is available exclusively in the UK via the brand’s official website and the distillery visitor center, and will make its way to other vendors beginning May 4. It is priced at £75 ($94 USD) per 700ml bottle.

Last September, Glenmorangie unveiled it latest narrative-stimulated release, A Tale of the Forest, which followed in the footsteps of 2021’s A Tale of Winter and 2020’s A Tale of Cake.
