Glenmorangie Unveils 13-Year-Old A Tale Of Winter

Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter

Glenmorangie has unveiled a 13-year-old single malt created specifically for the winter season, called A Tale of Winter. The offering follows in the line of last year’s Glenmorangie A Tale of Cake.

Dr Bill Lumsden, the brand’s head of whisky creation, led the development of Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter. Inspired by “the joy of cosy moments indoors” during Scotland’s snowy months, Lumsden crafted the limited edition expression by taking a batch of whisky matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished it in ex-Marsala casks.

“We all know the delight of snuggling up in a winter jumper by the fire, when it’s snowy outside,” said Lumsden. “With flavours as bright and vivid as my favourite woollen sweater, Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter deliciously captures those magical, cosy moments.”

On the nose, the Scotch offers aromas of orange toffee, lavender honey and sweet rose. The palate brings notes of red pepper flakes, cocoa powder, Brazil nut toffee and sweet barley malt. It culminates in a feels like forever finish that swirls with cinnamon, ginger, and clove.

To celebrate the launch, the producer has developed a selection of seasonal cocktails that showcase the new single malt, including a Winter Old Fashioned and a Quinta Ruban Hot Chocolate.

Bottled at 46% ABV, Glenmorangie A Tale of Winter will be available to purchase in the UK for £75 beginning November 1 through Clos 19 and at specialist retailers. The product will also be made available in the US in the coming weeks.

Last month, Glenmorangie opened the doors to its ground-breaking innovation distillery, the Lighthouse. The new space promises to “redefine every aspect of their craft to create game-changing, spirit-led Glenmorangies.”

In July, the brand unveiled Batch 2 of its Cadboll Estate single estate whisky. In April, the Scotch took home Double Gold honors at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the contest’s top rating.
