The “Here Comes Trouble” is a cocktail tribute to the pampered pup who was left with a hotel heiress’ fortune
The “Here Comes Trouble” from Darling is a spicy, citrusy sour delight that got its name from the dog that formerly resided in the bar’s location atop the Park Lane New York hotel. The pampered pup’s story remains one of the city’s most delightful tales and deserves the delicious cocktail that was created in its name.
We’ll let Bar Manager Josef Griz tell you the rest…
Name the cocktail.
“Here Comes Trouble”
What inspired the name? What’s this drink’s origin story?
Darling is set in the converted penthouse apartment that once belonged to the hotel heiress Leona Helmsley. Ms Helmsley famously broke the tabloids upon her passing when she left her fortune to her small Maltese dog named Trouble. Trouble lived out the rest of his days enjoying the kind of pampering his owner had envisioned for her best friend. Trouble has also since passed, but we like to think of him as our spirit animal at Darling especially when it comes to service.
