Highland Park London Edition Joins Single Cask Series

Highland Park London Edition

Highland Park has added an 18-year-old whisky to its Single Cask Series, the London Edition. The Orkney-based distillery’s master whisky maker Gordon Motion drew the single malt from a specially chosen cask back in 2021.

For the whiskies included in the Single Cask Series, Motion is “looking for the exceptional – a unique aroma, an outstanding character or simply a superb example of Highland Park’s uniquely complex balance of flavours”.

For the Highland Park London Edition, he chose a refill Sherry-seasoned European oak cask for its marriage of “diverse yet harmonious flavours,” including pear, vanilla, nutmeg, and peat. “When it comes to whisky that’s matured for 18 years and more, I have fewer casks to choose from, so those in our Single Cask Series are, quite simply, the most exceptional Highland Park casks available,” he noted.

The Scotch offers aromas of vanilla sponge, fresh Galia melon, oak, nutmeg, and light peat tones. The palate features flavors of pear, aniseed, and rich cedar wood alongside gentle peaty notes, followed by a finish that lingers with sweet spice and wood.

Bottled at a cask strength of 58.5% ABV, just 642 bottles of the Highland Park London Edition will be made available and will be priced at £390 ($495 USD). For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.

In February, Highland Park released its oldest whisky yet, a 54 Year Old priced at a somewhat staggering £39,000 (about $47,000 USD).
