The Macallan is giving an inside look into everything that goes into their Double Cask Range via their first ever virtual tasting “The Macallan Whisky Bench Experience.” Featuring a panel made up of the top Whisky professionals from the Speyside distillery, the one night-only event will take place on September 16.
Fully titled “The Macallan Whisky Bench Experience: Discover The Double Cask Journey From Acorn To Glass,” the event provides Whisky lovers with an unprecedented look at the making of Double Cask through the unparalleled wood journey and exceptional Whisky making process as told by the Masters of The Macallan themselves.
Hosted and moderated by National Brand Ambassador, Raquel Raies, the one-hour, virtual experience will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the art and science behind the Double Cask whisky making process, tasting and interactive Q&A session by Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker; Sarah Burgess, Lead Whisky Maker; and Stuart MacPherson, Master of Wood.
For Macallan, it’s important for viewers to get a complete picture of the entire Whisky making process and how the spirits are impacted by each phase. In a press conference earlier this week, MacPherson noted, “The single biggest influence in the development of liquid is actually the casks and the toasting temperatures. It’s that attention to detail that really allows us to look for 100% of that natural color and up to 80% of that final flavor from the wood itself.”
The event begins at 10 am Pacific Time (6 pm UTC) on September 16th. And it also looks like it’s free, so there’s really no reason not to sign up.
In order to join in on the fun, you must make a reservation for “The Macallan Whisky Bench Experience” via Macallan’s official website. And while you’re at it, you can have those whiskies delivered to your home via the ReserveBar in the U.S. or The Whisky Exchange in the U.K. or Europe.
