Lambay Whiskey Unveils Fourth Single Cask Strength Single Malt, Cask 4613

Lambay Cask 4613

Lambay Whiskey has announced the release of their fourth Single Cask Strength Single Malt, Cask 4613. The new offering from the Irish whiskey brand will be made available across Europe  this Spring.

Lambay Single Malt whiskey is triple distilled, bourbon cask matured and finished in cognac casks close to the island’s shoreline housed in the bonded warehouse known as the Sea Cask Room. Unique and exclusive, the Single Cask Strength expression of Lambay Whiskey Single Malt offers a pure taste of island life. Cask 4613 is the fourth cask release of twenty in this exclusive Premium Cask Program. Limited to just 400 bottles to be released on Lambay’s E-Store and markets such as Ireland and Europe (FR, ND, BE).

LAMBAY Cask Strength 4613

Wholly finished in Camus cognac casks, this collection of single malt cask strength casks lay sleeping on Lambay since 2018. All the cognac casks used in the finish of this whiskey were hand-selected for their rich aromatic profile and intense concentration, and, over time, the casks have become infused with unique maritime notes.

The maturation warehouse on Lambay’s western shoreline offers ideal conditions for maritime cask maturation. The island holds a micro-climate of its own, always one or two degrees warmer than the mainland and perfect for cask maturation. Sea-spray, iodine, brine, and the island’s natural botanicals infuse the wood as the Lambay Single Malt matures.

“We are delighted to present the 4th cask release from this exclusive collection where only 20 casks of this variant  will be released to the world and we hope that the market embraces this unique tasting Irish whiskey,” commented Mr. Jean-David Costerg – Managing Director of LIWC.

Each bottle from Cask 4613 is recorded with a batch number on the label along with the rare signature of Lambay Master Blender Yonael Bernard. Presented in a craft wood case with a neck tag, the location and details of the cask are clearly communicated to the customer.

At least seven years old and full of rich wood and floral notes, the triple distillation of the Single Malt and long period of maturation in the cognac cask on Lambay Island makes for a surprising sweet long-lasting smooth finish especially for this high strength whiskey.

On the nose, Lambay Cask 4613 offers oak, salty butter, and floral notes. The palate delivers green fruit and coconut to go along with more flowers. The finish features long-lasting sweetness with honeysuckle and acacia.

“Cask 4596 was first exclusively released in Dubai Duty Free and Cask 4616 released to our partners -Toko Trading in Japan last year, with another private cask sale to a German buyer this year. Cask 4613 is our pleasure to release to our growing fanbase who are seeking a more intense Lambay Whiskey in their glass,” commented Sabine Sheehan, Global Brand Ambassador for LIWC.

Bottled at 56.5% ABV, Lambay Cask 4613 is priced at €140 per 70cl bottle.

Last year, we caught up with Sheehan to discuss the origins of Lambay Irish Whiskey and its unique home on an island just off the coast of Dublin.
