Last Drop Distillers Debut 50 Year Old Signature Blended Scotch Whisky

The Last Drop Distillers has made its first move into spirits creation with the launch of its 50 Year Old Signature Blended Scotch Whisky. The new whisky is the  22nd release from the Sazerac-owned bottler and its inaugural signature blend.

The Last Drop 50 Year Old Signature Blended Scotch Whisky is the first expression created by new master blender Colin Scott, who joined the brand in September 2020. Scott has more than 50 years of experience in the industry and was the former master blender for Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky arm Chivas Brothers.

“In nearly half a century in the industry, this is only the second 50-year-old blend I have created, and I’m immensely proud both of the complexity of the whisky and of its significance: as The Last Drop’s first signature blend, and as my inaugural release with them,” said Scott.

Limited to 500 bottles globally, the new expression is made from the company’s inventory of maturing malt and grain whiskies, and aged blends. The whisky began as a new distillate of single malts and grains, which were filled into Sherry and Bourbon casks more than 50 years ago.

The blended Scotch offers dried fruits and scented floral notes, along with sweet spices and creamy toffee. The finish delivers hints of liquorice, spring flowers, and oak.

“This wonderful 50-year-old blend marks a significant moment for The Last Drop as our first foray into the creation, as well as curation, of remarkable spirits,” said Rebecca Jago, managing director of The Last Drop.

Like all Last Drop releases, each bottle comes packaged with a 50ml miniature of the same liquid and a pocket-sized tasting book. It is priced at £3,250 ($4,619 USD) and available from The Last Drop website and fine spirits retailers.

In October, The Last Drop Distillers announced their first Autumn Collection of rare aged spirits, which features a 1980 Buffalo Trace Bourbon, a 1976 “Overproof” Very Old Jamaica Rum, and a 1959 Vintage Grande Champagne Cognac.
