Lima First Speakeasy, Sastreria Martinez, is bring some of the world’s top bars to Peru throughout 2024, including Athens’ Barro Negro
Lima’s first speakeasy bar, Sastreria Martinez, is bringing some of the world’s best bars to Peru in 2024. Opened in 2022 under the leadership of Diego Macedo, the takeover series will feature a new bar each month–for one night only–giving Lima residents the opportunity to see some of the most exciting bars from around the world ply their trade and pour their drinks in its cozy, intimate space. Things kick off with Barro Negro from Athens this month. Guests can expect to see bars from Latin America, North America, Africa, and Europe throughout the year.
On January 24th, Barro Negro will be over Sastreria Martinez, showcasing a selection of drinks from their cocktail menu. The drinks include Mayan’s Punch, a funky and exotic punch with Olmeca Altos Reposado, coffee distillate, tepache and a tropical bump of passionfruit; and Lokalism, a green and savory gimlet-esque serve with Ancho Reyes Verde, lacto-fermented tomatoes, distilled basil and tequila washed olive oil. Also featuring on the night will be Para Todo Bien, a zesty highball with smoky undertones and a pop of stone fruit using Ojo De Tigre Mezcal and a carbonated kombucha with oolong tea and peach; and Mestizo, a light and effervescent spritz with a blend of Olmeca Altos Reposado, Ojo De Tigre Mezcal, an apple and lime cordial, and sparkling wine, finished with aromatic drops of basil oil.
Across 2024, an unparalleled selection of the best bars from around the world will be heading over to Peru, with May offering a hitherto unseen experience where, over the course of four consecutive nights, four different venues will transform Sastreria Martinez as a celebration of the venue’s second birthday.
Sastreria Martinez, remains Lima’s best-kept secret, a speakeasy cocktail bar that promises to take you back in time to the roaring 20s. Tucked away in the heart of Miraflores, the bar offers a unique experience that combines the art of mixology with the charm and glamor of the prohibition era. The bar has an intimate, dimly-lit atmosphere, plush leather seating, and vintage decor that transports you back to a time when cocktails were king.

Last year, the bar celebrated its first birthday by collaborating with London’s The Connaught.
