Malibu Rum Releases Watermelon Flavor

Malibu Watermelon Rum

Malibu Rum has launched a new Watermelon flavor. The new offering joins the Pernod Ricard-owned brand’s lineup of flavored Rums, which already includes Lime, Strawberry, Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit, and Tropical Banana, as well as Malibu Black and Malibu Red to go along with the Original.

Bottled at 21% ABV, Malibu Watermelon blends the brand’s iconic coconut Rum with watermelon flavor. The result is a tropical delight that’s seem made for summer, but perfect anytime you just feel the need for an island escape.

“Introducing the newest addition to the Malibu range – Malibu Watermelon! Caribbean Rum blended with the ripe, juicy and refreshing taste of Watermelon flavor and a smooth and fruity finish, Malibu Watermelon is made for summer! For chilled moments with friends, simply add soda and share, or stir things up with a Malibu Watermelon Mojito,” says the brand.

Malibu Watermelon Mojito

  • ¼ part Lime Juice
  • 2 parts Soda water
  • 10 Mint leaves
  • 6 chunks of Watermelon

In a highball glass, muddle watermelon. Fill highball glass with ice. Add Malibu Watermelon, lime juice and mint leaves and fill up with soda water. Garnish with a mint sprig and a watermelon wedge and enjoy.

Malibu Watermelon Rum is priced at $13.99 per 750ml bottle or $21.49 for a 1.75L bottle and can be purchased at various specialty retailers as well as Total Wine & More.

In August, Malibu Rum and Dillon Francis teamed up for The Coconut Challenge. The DJ remixed the 2010 hit, “The Coconut Song (Da Coconut Nut),” and recruited fans to learn and submit a video of the track’s associated dance, choreographed by Matt Steffanina, using the hashtag #TheCoconutChallenge.

“The song has been around for a long, long time and has had lots of plays and downloads, so we thought it was a good fit with Malibu Rum and our coconut spirit,” said Troy Gorczyca, Malibu’s Brand Director. “It’s a great way to bring the brand to life and make the song more contemporary and inspire our target audience to dance and have fun and enjoy the summer fun in a situation that’s a little bit different than normal.”
