Next Century Spirits (NCS) has launched Bear Fight American Single Malt Whiskey. The brand has already picked up several gold medals across multiple international spirit competitions, including Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Best in Category at the 2022 World Whiskies Awards (the only American Single Malt under $150), and Double Gold at the 2021 New York International Spirits Competition (the only American Single Malt under $75).
Blending old world tradition with new world attributes, Bear Fight whiskey is an American single malt whiskey aged in first fill bourbon barrels and then finished in peated-smoked oak and sherry casks. Approachable, versatile, and affordable, the whiskey finds the sweet spot between bourbon and Scotch.
“The final flavor profile decision was made in order to create the most approachable, daily drinker American Single Malt in the world,” says Master Blender, Nick Scarff, who has earned more than 130 medals in international tasting competitions for products he has developed. “The inspiration for this product came from a combination of a lifelong love affair with Scotch combined with the desire to prove that America could also produce top quality single malt whiskies.”
On those, the whiskey offers toasted pecan, ripe red apples, and honeysuckle. The palate delivers dried figs, black currants, wildflower honey, and candied dates. The finish features cream sherry, medium toast American oak, and a hint of Islay style peat smoke.
“We believe Bear Fight can create a new value proposition for consumers that shows amazing whiskey can be found in all categories and prices,” says Anthony Moniello, Chief Commercial Office of NCS.
Bear Fight Whiskey is now available on ReserveBar and ForWhiskeyLovers.com, as well as at retail in CO, CT, NC, and NY for $39.99. A much broader rollout is set to come in Fall 2022.
