Nick Offerman is getting his own Lagavulin Whisky

Parks & Recreation may have gone off the air over four years ago, but fans of the television series have reason to rejoice – and perhaps get together to reminisce over a bottle of “the nectar of the gods.” Nick Offerman is getting his own Whisky. Best known for playing the red meat grilling, government hating, brown liquor swilling Ron Swanson on the NBC television series, the actor will be lending his face to a soon-to-be-released 11-year-old Single Malt Whisky from Lagavulin.

Offerman has been working with the distillery since 2014, promoting the brand via a YouTube Channel titled “My Tales of Whisky.” He teamed up with Lagavulin’s distillery manager, Colin Gordon, to create the limited edition beverage, which is expected to hit shelves in late October.

Offerman helped design the packaging for the bottle as well, and it will feature his signature along with a quote: “I have traveled the world and sampled many attempts at pleasing nectars, but it is solely this distillation of Islay; a tiny, charismatic Scottish isle, that has claimed my palate. Yea, and my heart into the bargain.”

According to Lagavulin, the special bottling “carries the signature Lagavulin peatiness but with extra spices and notes of dried fruit to carry the smoke. The whisky offers a full-on tingle from the split second it hits your lips, with pronounced fresh berry character combined with spiciness. Elevated top-notes provide a more direct flavor journey than other Lagavulin expressions.”

The Scotch Whisky comes along just in time for Thanksgiving, and should also prove a perfect stocking stuffer for fans of Parks & Recreation or just any peaty Whisky lover who is looking to try something new. Either way, we can’t think of many people – or characters – who deserve a whisky they helped craft more than Nick Offerman.
