20 Berkeley, the new, British produce-led restaurant and bar in the heart of Mayfair, has opened Nipperkin Bar at 20 Berkeley. The London hideaway offers expertly mixed cocktails from a carefully curated menu of in-house distilled spirits created by Bar Manager Angelos Bafas. Angelos’ beverage concept focuses on seasonality, locality, and an ethical approval to the environment, mirroring the ethos behind the restaurant’s culinary offering. A celebration of the best of British produce, the menu showcases the innovative flavours achieved by ingredients that are predominantly sourced, distilled, or harvested in the UK.
Situated on the lower ground level of 20 Berkeley, the venue is the ideal setting for guests to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif or unwind after their final course. Whilst the cocktails on offer are undoubtedly a key feature, the ambiance is set to be a highlight, with the bar taking inspiration from a traditional English country manor house.
The interior design of Nipperkin has been reimagined by interior architect Pirajean Leas. They incorporate elements of craft, detail, and bespoke furniture throughout the space to create an intimate atmosphere, as well as the use of natural materials, colours, and textures to add to the overall ambience.
Nipperkin’s selection of cocktails are designed to be simplistic, whilst introducing new and unexpected flavours to elevate drinking experiences. Drawing inspiration from culinary elements, Angelos brings a unique perspective to his creations, extracting distinctive scents and profiles, such as the dry honey distillate. Two standout creations from his cocktail menu include the ‘Aged’ Kelp, a blend of seaweed aged for half an hour, paired with fresh Norfolk mint alongside roasted Kent hazelnuts; and the Black Mustard, a straight-up gimlet showcasing the versatility and boldness of British ingredients, including Dorset wasabi distillate mixed with Cotswolds apple eau de vie.
Nipperkin Bar is located at 20 Berkeley Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 8EE. For more information or to make a reservation, head overe to the restaurant and bar’s official website.
