Oblix at The Shard has announced it will reopen on Wednesday, May 19th, complete with a new cocktail menu, available within their cocktail bar and lounge, Oblix East. The new cocktail menu will join a considered selection of luxurious bar dishes, from executive chef Marcus Eaves, as well as the Afternoon Tea and Oblix Easy set menu which have been refreshed to include a selection of seasonally inspired dishes.
Designed by global beverage director for Zuma & Oblix, James Shearer, the new cocktail menu is inspired by classic cocktails with a focus on elevating these through the use of premium, well-sourced ingredients and innovative finishing touches, paired perfectly with Oblix’s eye-catching setting.
In partnership with CÎROC Vodka, the hero addition will be the Born a Star, Oblix’s take on a celebration cocktail with an elevated twist, comprised of CÎROC Vodka, blood orange, passion fruit and citrus, and topped with sparkling wine, it will be served in a replica of The Shard itself. The Born a Star will be presented within The Shard at the table, and upon the drink being removed from the replica, it will project a light beam onto the ceiling with the option to create a bespoke message in advance, for that very special occasion.
The rest of the menu similarly takes flavor profile inspiration from other classic cocktails to ensure they resonate with guests, before the team adds a variety of innovative twists. Risky Business is Oblix’s take on a Long Island Iced Tea, with Casamigos tequila blanco, respadao, anejo, mezcal, orange curacao, lemon, agave, salt and coca cola, whilst the White Chocolate Pina Colada builds on the cult-favourite by adding Zacapa 23 year old rum, white chocolate, coconut, pineapple, lemon and a caramel nest. Further highlights include the Bubble Gum Martini, with Tanqueray London dry gin, rhubarb, lemongrass, lemon, egg whites and bubble smoke and the Oaxacan Fire Sizzle, which combines Tapatio tequila blanco, reposado and over proof with passion fruit, pink grapefruit, velvet falernum and a caramel nest, with both drinks being finished table-side.
Joining the drinks menu in Oblix East, especially for the reopening, will be three luxurious and supremely photogenic dishes, perfect for sharing. This includes Lobster fish & chips and the Wagyu hot dog, with pancetta, gruyere cheese & truffle as well as the delicious Oblix crispy fried chicken, with caviar, sour cream & chive.
These new additions to the Oblix lounge join their acclaimed Afternoon Tea menu, which has seen seasonal updates such as Blueberry & vanilla tarts and Raspberry & white chocolate Macarons served alongside a luxurious range of sandwiches to include Lobster mayonnaise and Angus beef & horseradish, as well as Freshly baked scones with jams, fresh honeycomb and clotted cream, and a selection of teas sourced from the Rare Tea Company. The A La Carte and Brunch menus, available within Oblix West, have also had similar seasonal updates and are the perfect accompaniment to aperitivo drinks in Oblix East.
Oblix will reopen on Wednesday, May 19th, across Oblix West and Oblix East. Bookings can be made online or via the phone.
Oblix is located at The Shard, 31 St Thomas St, London SE1 9RY, United Kingdom.
