Old Forester has unveiled the sixth edition to its 117 Series, Warehouse H. Launched in April 2021 with its High Angels’ Share Whiskey, this is the second bottling to celebrate one of the distillery’s warehouses, in August 2021 the brand released its Warehouse K bourbon.
Warehouse H is symbolic of Old Forester’s growth after WWII. Construction on the brick warehouse began in 1946, housing 50,000 barrels. The four story, eight chamber warehouse was designed to be heat cycled in the winter months when temperatures dropped below 60 degrees and the maturation process ceased. Warehouse H is unusual in its heat cycling profile with the 1st floor sometimes hitting the highest temperatures.
Old Forester 117 Series Warehouse H whiskey offers aromas of soft caramel, lemon custard and graham cracker atop undertones of roasted malt and fresh cedar. The palate delivers delicate lemon meringue pie drizzled with subtle caramel and custard swirls, rounded out with a touch of nuttiness. A trace of medium-bodied warm citrus custard tart lingers on the finish.
Bottled at 49% ABV, the whiskey is priced at $59.99 per 375m bottle. For more information, head over to the brand’s official website.
In December, Old Forester debuted the fifth bourbon in its 117 Series, Old Forester Extra Extra Old.
