Inspired by a sweet and sour popsicle from Cape Town, the Passionfruit Vodka Fizz brings Dallas the kind of bubbly refreshment perfect for the city’s famously warm evenings.
A refreshing ode to South Africa’s granadilla ice lollies, Clifton Club’s Passionfruit Vodka Fizz is perfect for anyone looking for something bubbly and refreshing, but wants something a bit stronger and more exotic than the usual spritz.
Marian Scaturro, general manager at Clifton Club, tells us…
Name the cocktail
Passionfruit Vodka Fizz
What inspired the name? What’s this drink’s origin story?
This drink was inspired by our owner, Greg’s, childhood! He grew up in South Africa near Clifton beach (which is where our bar gets its name). Cape Town is famous for its granadilla ice lollies —a passionfruit ice pop of sorts— and we wanted to bring something like that to Dallas.
What other drinks belong in its family?
This drink is topped off with Topo Chico making it sort of fizz adjacent but closer to a collins though we serve it in a wine glass (the shape of an upside-down granadilla ice lollie)
if you like ________ and ________ you should try this drink.
Porn star martinis ; Pina coladas
What food is this cocktail best served with?
This drink pairs wonderfully with our green goddess dip and chilled veggies, In the summer we also love to pair it with raw oysters on the half shell with some mignonette
