Patrimony Estate has announced its newly released 2017 and 2018 vintages, including the first Cabernet Franc bottling from this legendary estate. Launched in 2013 by co-proprietors and brothers Georges and Daniel Daou, the Paso Robles winery has received critical praise year-after-year for its wines.
With these new vintages, Patrimony Estate expands its expertise in Bordeaux varieties to Cabernet Franc. “Patrimony’s first-ever Cabernet Franc release is nothing short of quintessential—full bodied yet supremely elegant and layered,” says Winemaker Daniel Daou. “While approachable upon release, it will develop beautifully for decades to come.”
This is the innagural release of Patrimony to the domestic and international wholesale markets. The winery is making this offering available only to the finest retailers and restaurants across the globe. The wine will continue to be available direct through the Patrimony allocation list, which is currently on a wait-list.
Both Patrimony’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 and Cabernet Franc 2017 are characterized by their expressiveness and intensity, reflecting the growing season and thoughtful winemaking approach. The Caves des Lions 2018 is a deep blended expression made up 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Cabernet Franc.
The wines are aged for between 27 and 30 months in barrels custom-made by a number of top cooperages. These include French oak bois rose aged for 3 and 5 years with a custom toast created for Patrimony and Sylvain Collection & Signature, crafted from centuries-old trees in France. This aging program fosters elegance and distinct character in the wines.
Patrimony’s winemaking philosophy utilizes the scientific lens of phenolics to inform Daniel Daou’s winemaking, while the setting of Paso Robles’ Adelaida District creates bold, yet balanced wines.
