Patron Tequila has announced that the 2021 edition of its Perfectionists cocktail competition will begin in a virtual format. The Bacardi-owned brand hoes to engage consumers ahead of the global final in Mexico.
Beginning in mid-April, the 2021 Patron Perfectionists competition will follow a new online format that enables bartenders to enter from the safety of their homes. The competition will challenge bartenders to submit a cocktail recipe online that reflects their journey to find perfection behind the bar. Entries can use use up to eight ingredients from a list of widely available supplies in order to encourage consumers to try and recreate the recipes at home.
“With the rise of mixology at home, consumers are now more prepared than ever to engage with our cocktail competition and support the amazing bartenders who’ll take part,” said Matthew Sykes, senior director, global marketing, at Patrón Tequila. “We are looking forward to rolling out this year’s edition and providing the public with inspiration to craft beautiful cocktails that elevate their moments.”
Consumers will have a hand in choosing the drinks that make it to the next round, as the tequila brand has teamed up with Difford’s Guide to allow fans to vote on a shortlist of 30 cocktail entries. The top 10 will go through to the national finals.
From there, Consumers will then be asked to vote for their favorite entries in the national finals, which will be virtually broadcast around the world and judged by a panel of experts. The winner of each national heat will be invited to Mexico in January 2022 to take part in the global final at Hacienda Patrón.
“For 2022, we have envisioned a new format that will enable bartenders to express their talent and share it with the public globally,” added Sykes. “Over the past year, digital platforms have become more important than ever, having allowed the trade to keep their work forefront of consumers’ minds and inspire drinkers to raise their cocktail game at home. We cannot wait to roll out the new competition format and showcase brilliant bartenders and their creations as they join our familia Patrón.”
The Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition will open for entries on April 16, 2021 until the end of May. For more information, head over to the official website.
