Patrón Tequila has shortlisted thirty bartenders from the United Kingdom for the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition 2021/2022. And in an unprecedented step for the competition, the Bacardi-owned company is inviting consumers to help select the top 10 finalists.

Voters are asked to pick their favourite cocktails from the top 30 options until 22 July 2021. You can join in the voting process online at the Patron Perfectionists Competition website.

The three bartenders with the highest number of consumer votes will take three of the top-10 spots in the UK’s virtual final.

The remaining seven spots will be chosen by a local judging panel, comprising of two Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers; Giulia Cuccurullo, winner of the 2020 Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition; Deano Moncrieffe, founder and director of Hacha Bar and agave spirits expert; and Matt Sykes, vice-president, global commercial executive of Patrón and founder of the Patrón Perfectionists Cocktail Competition.

The winners will be flown to the Hacienda in Jalisco, Mexico, in January 2022 for the global final.

Speaking on the competition Sykes said:

“This is an incredibly exciting year for the Patrón Perfectionists competition and I’m glad that we’ve been able to adapt with this new format.

“Consumers have a great appreciation for cocktail making and this offers them a new way to get involved and show their appreciation and support for great cocktails.

“To give consumers a chance to vote for their local top 30 is another first for us and we can’t wait to see which cocktails and bartenders have resonated at home.”

Bartenders hailing from Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh and London have submitted entries for this year’s contest.

The Patrón Perfectionists competition has been running for seven years.

In other bartending competition news, Diageo’s World Class 2021 cocktail competition is set to begin this weekend. Taking place in a completely virtual setting, the competition will run from July 4 through 8.
