Gǒng Lounge and Bar at the Shangri-La The Shard in London has partnered with Diplomático Rum and Canaïma Gin this summer, two sustainable Latin American spirits brands, to launch the Tropical Oasis menu. Available from June to September, cocktails sold from the new menu will contribute towards the work of NGOs in the Amazon including tree planting, reducing food waste, and helping to enrich quality of life for local and indigenous communities.
The team of mixologists at Gǒng will be joined by high profile bartender Simone Caporale, with a showcase of three signature cocktails. The rum drinks will focus on South American flavors, with Canaïma’s blend of rare botanicals, both being served alongside a new live sushi station and resident DJ.
Located 182 meters above ground level, Gǒng is the highest hotel bar in Western Europe. Designed by renowned interior designer Andre Fu, it takes its name from ‘dougong’ – an ancient Chinese structural element of interlocking wooden brackets, used to support historical Chinese temples and palaces, and a strong component of the bar’s intriguing interior.
Cinnabar red lacquer panels, mauve bespoke carpets, and a wall of antique bronze cabinets create contrasting Chinese-style textures, whilst a series of intimate chambers – created to work with the unique architecture of The Shard – take guests on a journey through the bar. An beautiful setting for sundowners and late-night drinks, Gǒng features a Champagne bar, cocktail bar, and dramatic infinity sky pool.
