Spanish Tapas Restaurant Salinas Unveils Listening Bar In Chelsea

|

Salinas, a Spanish tapas restaurant located in the heart of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, has announced the opening of Salinas Listening Bar.

Salinas will pair its authentic Spanish dishes and extensive bar program with a carefully curated listening experience. Each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 8pm – 12am, the listening bar will host some of New York’s veteran selectors showcasing music in thoughtful and inventive ways. Salinas Listening Bar focuses on an eclectic mix of Soul, Funk, Jazz, Disco, Balearic, and House music.

Enclosed within warm, wood-paneled walls, guests can sip on new spring cocktails such as the Balearic Sunset, a blood orange margarita with Thai chili, paired with fine-tuned acoustics and a Funktion One sound system.

Salinas co-owner/founder Nicolas Matar, the former owner of NYC’s two most legendary music driven clubs, Cielo and Output, will be curating the music program. Nicolas has been a DJ for thirty years and was once the resident DJ of the world-famous club, Pacha, in Ibiza.  “I was inspired by Tokyo’s vibrant Hifi Bar scene to open Salinas’ own interpretation of this experience.”

Salinas’ softly lit main dining room will transform into a truly unique listening and dining experience with guests being able to savor authentic Spanish cuisine from co-owner and Executive Chef Luis Bollo. A native of San Sabastian, Bollo crafts everything from savory Pan Tumaca with hojiblanca olive oil and Rossejat Rápida to herb-dusted hanger steaks and Arroz Vasco with salted cod risotto.

Salinas is located at 136 9th Avenue between 18th and 19th Streets. Reservations can be made online here. It is open Wednesday through Thursday from 5pm – 11pm, Friday through Saturday from 5pm – 12am, and Sunday from 5pm – 11pm.

Over in Greenpoint, another listening bar, Eavesdrop has begun pairing beautifully crafted cocktails with 1950s Japanese aesthetics to create a vinyl lover’s paradise.
