Spirit of Yorkshire Launch Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2020 Whisky

On August 1, Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery debuted Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2020 to celebrate Yorkshire Day. The new Whisky from the English Distillery starts a new limited edition range that will launch annually around Yorkshire Day (August 1).

Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2020 Whisky is a combination of Bourbon and PX sherry casks that were laid down in 2016 and bottled at 55% ABV. The release is limited to just 1,500 bottles.

According to Joe Clark, Spirit of Yorkshire’s whisky director, the expression is “rich and spicy with flavours of dried fruits, cocoa, honey, hazelnut, caramel and black pepper.” He added, “With only 1500 bottles available, Filey Bay Yorkshire Day is our rarest whisky release to date. It’s also our oldest whisky to be bottled so far and is very unlikely to be around for long.”

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery’s co-founder, David Thompson, said: “Although we had to cancel this year’s open day, we have been working hard behind the scenes to bring this long awaited release to market and are delighted that we will have it for sale in the distillery shop on 1st August.”

Priced at £85 ($110 USD), Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2020 comes in a 700ml bottle and is available via the distillery shop and online from Spirit of Yorkshire’s official website.

Last month, Spirit of Yorkshire released Filey Bay STR Finish single malt Whisky. The STR Finish was the fourth release from the distillery and is finished in Rioja wine casks. Distilled in 2016, the “field to bottle” single malt spent years maturing in Bourbon casks before transferring to be finished in shaved, toasted and re-charred red wine barriques, which came from Rioja, Spain. STR refers to Shaving, Toasting and Re-charring the casks, which the distillery says results in a cask that delivers a really beautiful and balanced maturation.
