Starward Stout Cask Is A Whisky Made For Boilermakers

Starward Stout Cask

Starward has unveiled a limited-edition Stout Cask finished whisky. The single malt honors the crafts of brewing and distilling, and delivers a flavor profile unlike anything the brand has created before.

Starward Stout Cask celebrates the immense flavors in both whisky and imperial stout beer. To create the Australian whisky, the team hand selected maturing whisky from their signature red wine and small format Apera barrels, then finished it for a further 18 months in barrels from Brick Lane’s coveted ‘Trilogy of Fear’ imperial stout series.

Ahead of the launch of this latest Project release, Starward Production Director, Sam Slaney said, “We love the change of seasons at Starward, and the colder weather means the perfect time for a stout! Brick Lane’s amazing Trilogy of Fear series showcases complex dark malt and a rich texture, allowing our whisky to soak up all the robust flavor from these stout-soaked barrels. This limited release has been brewing for some time and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”

Bottled at a cask strength of 52% ABV, Starward Stout Cask incorporates rich roasted characteristics that blend with the brand’s classic tropical fruit and vanilla flavors. With notes of cacao, stone fruit, and chocolate malt biscuits, it’s recommended sipped neat or as part of a boilermaker with a barrel aged Imperial Stout.

Ahead of its official launch, the brand has partnered with select venues across Australia, offering Starward Stout Cask boilermakers from 20th of May for a limited time. Participating venues can be found here.

The new whisky will be priced at $169 and available exclusively via ballot at the brand’s official website. Ballot registration opens 10 May with the ballot drawn from 5 June. Register here.
