Stay Inside A Giant Wine Barrel In Portugal’s Douro Valley

Wine lovers looking to explore some of the world’s best bottlings should all be well aware of Portugal’s Douro Valley at this point. Far more than just those responsible for incredible Port wines, in recent years everything from their red blends to table whites have become some of the world’s most loved and respected. So it would make sense for the region to begin attracting a variety of wine fans. For those looking for a particularly memorable and photographic experience, the Quinta da Pacheca estate has made it possible for guests to stay in an oversized wine barrel.

Quinta da Pacheca estate in Douro Valley, Portugal, specializes in wines of the Douro and Port and you’ll find 10 outsized wine barrels that have been converted into luxurious hotel rooms. “In an idyllic and romantic setting, Wine Barrels will provide you a unique experience of contact with nature and the monumental reality of the Douro Wine Region. Unique moments of rest await for you in an environment of rurality,” says the winery.

The pinewood barrels are lovingly made replicas of the actual barrels used in the winemaking process at this 280-year-old estate. Dotted throughout the vineyard, the rooms are priced at about €400 per night, with dinner and extras available to add on to enhance the experience.

For more information or to make a reservation, head over to Quinta da Pacheca’s official website.

Last year, we reported on Matices Hotel de Barricas, a hotel Jalisco that lets you sleep in giant Tequila barrels.
