For the second year in a row, Tamdhu is bringing back the age-old pairing of Scotch and Cigars with the release of Cigar Malt II. The second exclusive bottling in what might be turning into an annual series follows the award-winning first release.
Tamdhu Cigar Malt II is characterized by Tamdhu’s dedication to full maturation in first fill European Oak Oloroso Sherry Casks. Like each leaf in a cigar, the casks contribute to this whisky‘s distinctive natural color and robust flavor, which is designed to complement the profile of the world’s best cigars.
Bottled unchillfiltered and at 53.8% ABV, the whisky mimics the spice, aroma, and mouthfeel of aged tobacco leaves, resulting in a richness of texture and strength of flavor. A balanced, creamy nose gives way to crystallized ginger, rich golden syrup, and hints of sherry oak. The palate finds winter fruits soaked in sherry complementing the opulent, thick mouthfeel, which is followed by a rich malt loaf and vanilla cream. A long, lingering, and rewarding finish brings a hint of sherry, with honeyed apricots and toasted nuts.
“After the success of our debut Cigar Malt, we are delighted to announce the second expression in the series,” Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery Manager. “This latest release honours the age-old cigar and whisky pairing, and boasts a robust flavour profile designed to stand up to the finest cigars and complement their rich aroma. It’s the perfect representation of our dedication to full-term sherry cask maturation.”
Only 1,000 cases of Tamdhu Cigar Malt No II will be available to purchase via the brand’s official website and specialist retailers in the UK, USA, Germany, Netherlands, France, Taiwan, China, Korea, and Australia. It is priced at £195.99 per bottle.
