Tamdhu Releases Batch Strength 006

Tamdhu Batch Strength 006

Tamdhu has unveiled Batch Strength 006. The new offering from the Speyside brand is the sixth offering in its Batch Strength series.

Bottled at 56.8% ABV, Tamdhu Batch Strength 006 was matured exclusively in oloroso Sherry casks. “Each cask is meticulously hand-selected to create this one-of-a-kind release,” says the brand. “Moreover, a high proportion of these casks are first-fill: the very best of the very best.”

On the nose, the whisky offers the fresh spiciness of oak, then roasted nuts and warming vanilla. The palate brings summer berry pudding with crème anglaise, and a dash of water brings out orange, lemon and even more oak spice notes. The finish features cinnamon spice swells, revealing a long farewell of citrus zest and ripe figs.

“The Batch Strength series is one of our most popular releases – and Batch Strength No. 006 is sure to appeal to our fans old and new,” said Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu Distillery manager. “The high proportion of first-fill oloroso Sherry casks give this whisky a rich, complex taste and long, rewarding finish.”

Tamdhu Batch Strength 006 is available to purchase via Tamdhu’s official website and specialist retailers for £79.99 ($109 USD) per 700ml bottle.

Tamdhu is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, which last month teamed Edinburgh Gin with Phoebe Waller-Bridge to create a limited edition bottle, inspired by her award-winning play and TV show, Fleabag.

Last October, Rosebank unveiled a 30 Year Old Whisky as the first expression in a new series of annual limited edition releases. The Lowland distillery’s new offering is its first since Ian Macleod Distillers took over the brand.

Roseland was mothballed in 1993. But in October 2017, Ian MacLeod Distillers purchased the site from Scottish Canals and the trademarks from Diageo as well as the last remaining stocks and set about plans to restore the shuttered distillery. The restoration of the site in Falkirk, Scotland began in November 2019, and includes the construction of a 1,000-square-meter, energy-efficient distillery, a visitor centre, tasting room, shop. and warehouse.
