Already one of Los Angeles’ favorite neighborhoods for a night out, Koreatown is adding a massive new venue to its already packed scene, this time by way of the biggest names in K-Pop.

SMT comes to the area via SM Entertainment, South Korea’s largest entertainment company. It is known for having led the global K-pop phenomenon The label is home to K-pop giants such as Kangta, S.E.S., BoA, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, and Red Velvet to name a few.

SMT will be opening in the heart of Koreatown on Oxford and 6th, just across the street from Here’s Looking At You. The 16,000-square foot compound will feature a Seoul-inspired anju small plates menu downstairs, a large patio and inside bar, as well as multiple other private dining rooms, a DJ area, and more. Upstairs, there will be nearly a dozen private karaoke rooms, a second bar, and even more open-air drinking space. SM Entertainment has a variety of other restaurants open throughout Asia, though this will be their first food and drink space in Los Angeles.

There has been no announcement regarding what the complex will open. There is a good amount of construction already underway at the sight, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it open early next year.

The neighborhood already possesses one of North America’s best karaoke scenes and small bars as well as hidden speakeasies already dot the landscape. The complex won’t be the only giant venue in the area either, as it will stand only one block from famed 12-story, 155-foot Art Deco landmark The Wiltern.
