The Cigar and Whiskey Bar has opened at The Maybourne Beverly Hills and has instantly become the area’s go-to spot for a luxurious after-dinner drink. The new bar operates in the space previously run by the Ten Pound bar, located above Terrace at Maybourne (formerly Scarpetta, Georgie).
Inside the Cigar and Whiskey Bar, visitors will find a humidor housing more than 1,000 cigars from the Caribbean and Central America. This wood-panelled den with mid-century Murano ashtrays on the tables has been “designed to please the senses,” says the bar. Overall, the decor feels exclusive and sumptuous with an outdoor mezzanine patio overlooking the park.
The bar features special reserves from the Scottish Highlands and premier Japanese distilleries as well as small batch bourbons from Kentucky and Vermont. Whisky choices include a Highland Park VIntage 1968 and a Laphroaig 27 Year Old as well as a Yamazaki and a Green Spot. There are also a variety of options that come in below $20 as well as a classics-focused cocktail menu that features a Martinez, a Boulevardier, a Rusty Nail, and more. There’s a $50 minimum to enjoy the space, but that’s pretty easy to reach with a drink and a cigar.
The cigar menu features options from Arturo Fuente (Don Carlos, God of Fire, Opus X), Ashton, Padron (Family Reserve, 1964), and more. Thanks to consultation from a prominent lounge owner in Los Angeles, the selection is as vast as it is impressive.
The food menu is surprisingly extensive for the space, and includes full Osetra caviar service along with a number of small bites meant to accompany the drinks and cigars. There’s steak tartare, a Cuban sandwich, tempura snow crab claws, and Hawaiian tuna crudo, as well as a daily entree for anyone in need of a full meal.
The Cigar and Whiskey Bar at The Maybourne Beverly Hills is open from 5 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday to Saturday.
