The Macallan has unveiled a new annual release inspired by various elements of The Macallan Estate. Dubbed The Macallan Home Collection, the first whisky in the series will be known as The Distillery.
The Macallan Home Collection – The Distillery showcases the brand’s new distillery, which embodies the natural beauty of the birthplace of the brand. Bringing together their time-honored traditions and commitment to innovation, the Scotch offers consumers around the globe a unique insight into what makes The Macallan whiskies “so exceptional,” says the press release.
The font of the box features an artful watercolor created by Colin Rizza. Colin, as well as several members of his family, have worked at The Macallan Distillery for more than 30 years. Future releases in this collection will feature a piece of art created by different individuals who have been a part of The Macallan community.
Bottled at 43.5% ABV and a deep gold in color, the nose features aromas of butterscotch, figs, dates, almond, polished oak, milk chocolate, and a gentle floral note. The palate finds more butterscotch alongside oak spice, ginger, and vanilla. The medium-bodied adds more ginger and oak.
Beginning today, only 255 bottles of The Macallan Home Collection – The Distillery will be available for purchase via the brand’s official website for $525 per bottle with a limit of one bottle per person. Members of The Macallan Society will receive priority access to the new release.
In November, the iconic Speyside distillery added a single malt Scotch distilled in 1945 to its Red Collection, The Macallan 77 Years Old.
Earlier this year, we sat down with The Macallan Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, the first female Master Whisky Maker in the almost 200-year history of the brand, to discuss the 1926 bottling, the film, and her role as a whisky pioneer.
