While Gin may have been the talk of the town over the last few years, it looks like Vodkas are back and flourishing, according to the 2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition. A total of 10 different Vodkas were awarded Outstanding Gold Medals, the annual competition’s top prize.
Poland has emerged as the world’s top Vodka producing nation, in terms of quality, winning four Outstanding Gold medals: Dom Wina won for their Dwór Sieraków Sliwa Z Tarniną Vodka and Dwór Sieraków Superior Vodka, while Polska Fabryka Wódek Old Distillery Maxus Organic Vodka and Halewood Wines & Spirits Vestal Vintage 2015 Potato Vodka also notched top prizes. Romania’s Prodal 94 Stalinskaya Silver Vodka and Russia’s Marussia Beverages Mamont Vodka also each scored one of the top prizes, marking Eastern Europe as the world’s premiere Vodka producing region. But there were also a few surprises as Scotland’s Tayport Distillery Malt Barley Vodka, France’s Famille Naud French Vodka, and two Canadian Vodkas (Hiram Walker and Sons Polar Ice Arctic Extreme Vodka and Georgian Bay Spirit Vodka) also earned top marks at the 2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition
