The Reykjavik Edition Reopens Hidden Cocktail Bar, Tölt

Tölt Reykjavik Edition

The Reykjavik Edition has reopened its hidden cocktail bar, Tölt, with a revitalised cocktail menu inspired by Icelandic culture. Created by Head Bartender Nicolo Aversa, each cocktail on the menu uses fresh, local ingredients that highlight the very best of what Iceland has to offer.

Named after the unique fourth gait Icelandic horses are best known for, Tölt is a cozy bar located within The Reykjavik Edition, and the perfect venue for late night cocktails and pre-dinner drinks with friends. Designed as a hidden sanctuary, it is accessible on the ground floor on the opposite side of the lobby in the hotel. The menu focuses on specialty cocktails inspired by Icelandic nature, alongside an exclusive line of in-house distilled spirits.

Hailing from Italy, Aversa’s passion for hospitality was first inspired by his father who worked as a chef in several high-end hotels and restaurants in Italy. With 8 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Aversa’s career has taken him on a journey around the Icelandic drink scene, previously working at Skuggi Hotel by KEA, Public House Gastropub, and Klaustur Bar. Starting at The Reykjavik Edition in November 2021, Aversa quickly rose through the team, and was appointed Head Bartender of Lobby Bar and Tölt in April 2022. With an added background in visual and musical studies, Aversa brings his original and artistic style to each of his unique cocktail combinations, endeavouring to create a memorable flavour experience that incorporates his local knowledge for guests.

Using fresh, local ingredients, the cocktails at Tölt highlight the very best of what the country has to offer. Signature cocktail highlights include Dillicious Eve, with Vodka, elderflower liqueur, dill, green apple, lemon, and aquafaba; and Bobby Fischer, with Brown butter-washed bourbon, pecan orgeat, butterscotch, egg white, and lemon.

Designed in partnership with local architecture firm, T.ark, and New York-based studio Roman and Williams with guidance of ISC (Ian Schrager Company) design, The Reykjavik Edition set a new standard as the Icelandic capital’s first true luxury hotel experience since opening in late 2021. Located in the historical, scenic heart of downtown Reykjavik by Old Harbor port, the bar and hotel is just steps away from Laugavegur Street, the city’s vibrant shopping district, and the Harpa Concert and Conference Center.
