Tomintoul Reveals Robert Fleming 30th Anniversary Whisky

Tomintoul is launching two very special bottlings of 30 years old Single Malt to  celebrate Whisky maker Robert Fleming and his 30th Anniversary at the Speyside distillery.

The First Edition of the limited release Tomintoul Robert Fleming 30th Anniversary is described as an “incredibly complex yet beautifully balanced single malt.” The Whisky spent its first 20 years in a Bourbon cask, then matured for 10 more years in an Oloroso sherry butt.

“It gives me great pride to put my name to this exceptional single malt, which was matured in a cask that I personally selected in Jerez, Spain. Rare and complex, this is a stunning example of the unique style of whisky that we make at Tomintoul Distillery,” said Fleming.

Bottled at 49.7% ABV, the Scotch offers aromas of creme caramel and Christmas spices mingled with sultanas and candied peel. The palate features stewed green apples, milk chocolate, dates and raisins, bound in sweet cake spices and nutty toasted oak, with background hints of chamomile and fireplace soot. The finish delivers Brazil nut toffee and toasted cinnamon bagels, and lingers with dried fruit notes.

The Fleming family has been making Whisky in the Speyside region for four generations. “I remember as a youth cycling up A’anside with friends around the time the Tomintoul Distillery first started production in 1965,” said Fleming. “Little did I know that one day I would be fortunate in being only the third person in charge of the distillery and having the privilege of spending 30 years guiding whisky production at this unique Speyside distillery.”

At this time, Tomintoul has not indicated how many bottles of the Robert Fleming 30th Anniversary First Edition Whisky it will release and no price has been listed.

At the 2020 New York International Spirits Competition, the Tomintoul 12yr Portwood was named the Speyside Portwood Finish Scotch of the Year.
