Unshackled Debuts Sauvignon Blanc

Unshackled 2020 Sauvignon Blanc

Unshackled has unveiled a new 2020 Sauvignon Blanc. The new offering joins a portfolio that includes a rosé, a red blend, and a cabernet sauvignon.

Developed by The Prisoner Wine Company’s Director of Winemaking Chrissy Wittmann and her winemaking team, Unshackled is a brand characterized by flavors that “embody the bold and fearless,” says the brand.

The Unshackled 2020 Sauvignon Blanc offers notes of melon, peach, fresh citrus, and tropical fruits, along with the addition of Chenin Blanc and Roussanne, which add brightness and texture to the mouthful, creating an unmatched flavor.

Unshackled officially launched in early 2020 and provides a well-priced option for wine drinkers looking to further explore the ethos of parent brand The Prisoner Wine Company. Each wine in the portfolio is sourced from California’s Central Coast and North Coast wine growing regions, and are all priced under $30.

The Unshackled bottling “honors the eye-catching labels that The Prisoner Wine Company is known for with each bottle being adorned with a metallic codex debossed with details that hold the key to the wine’s appellation, varietal and vintage,” says the press release.

The Unshackled 2020 Sauvignon Blanc is priced at $27. Head over to the brand’s official website to find a bottle.

In May, due to what is being called “an exceptionally small harvest,” New Zealand, the world’s second largest producer of Sauvignon Blanc after France, announced that it may not be able to meet global demand over the coming year.

A representative from Pernod Ricard, owner of Brancott Estate, explained that extreme spring frosts have severely impacted crop yields, the poor weather follows an premature budburst, which affected white grape varieties in Marlborough.

That same month, Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) unveiled its second vintage of Sauvignon Blanc. The new 2020 vintage release of Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand, has already been awarded two 90 point ratings.
